Underwater world

25 April 2007 - I'm a kid again!

It's funny how I always do the romantic stuffs with my guy friends, not boyfriend....

Today I met up with Jason Ow, my church friend, who was going to bring me out as a birthday treat. I had no idea where he was planning to bring me until we reached Keppel and he asked me to guess. And the only other possible places to go in Keppel besides HarbourFront and Vivocity would be SENTOSA!

After he parked the car, we walked to Siloso Beach and on the way, took the chairlift up. Then we had a Subway lunch while chatting about Russell Peters (that racist bastard of a comedian but damned good). We took the luge down (super fun!) and then we walked around Sentosa abit. When we passed by the Underwater World, I wanted to go in but I hesitated when I saw the price ($19.50). Before I could protest about the price, Jason already bought the tickets. Hmm, let's go in then!

First we went to the Interactive Ray corner where we could touch the sting rays. I felt so guilty about eating them.... But that doesn't mean I'm stopping altogther heh. Here's a picture of my 'friend':
Later we moved on through all the sections that they have. I saw my favourite mystical creature, the nautilus. I remember watching one episode of Pokemon and it was about fossils and mystical creatures. The creature looks like the nautilus called Omanyte and Omastar and I just stuck to liking it. Can check out the website to see the different Pokemons(http://www.pokemon.com/Pokedex/flash.asp)

Moving on: One interesting area was this blue lighted room. The water temperature was at 2 degree Celsius. I read the information boards before I saw the creature and I got a slight shock.

At first I found it cute; the little fellow, less than 5cm flapping its lil wings to move. And it really looked like an angel. But the longer I looked at it, I just felt the shudders down my spine. It shouldn't be red, such a cute lil thing....

We visited the crabs, the bigger sea creatures (like the arapaiema - looks like the arowana)

and we went through the auto-tunnel, the only thing I'd remembered since I visited the aquarium when I was very young. I was on the travellator when Jason suddenly asked me to look at something. I did stare for very long but couldn't see anything. Then he got off the travellator and stood at one corner and pointed. I turned to look and I got such a big shock!

BOO! Scared you there? I freaked out and hugged the wall behind me.... But really, I couldn't see it even when I was staring so hard!

Later we exited the aquarium and went to the Dolphin Lagoon for the dolphin show. I love it! I nearly cried watching it because the dolphins Han, Splash and Young were sooo cute! Watching them reminded me of the article I read in Readers' Digest about the method of training dolphins - reinforcements of good behaviour through rewards (same for children - and men - too).

We had a walk along the beach, took jumping pictures and then we had Movenpick sorbet ice cream (Passionfruit & Mango, and Grapefruit & Orange) and we played by the pool where the children always played at in Palawan Beach.

After this, it rained but clever ME had brought my umbrella and we walked back to the carpark and scooted off to Bugis for The Hills have Eyes 2, only to find out later that it's rated R21 and we both can't watch it. We ran off to Bedok Princess cinema for the same movie but they don't have it. Sad.... (Oh we had dinner at a nice place called Blooie's in Siglap) We decided to rent movies and have a movie-marathon at his place so we went to Video Ezy to rent The Hills have Eyes, Ghostship and The Last Samurai. Went to his place, said hi to Uncle Jerry (OMG I love Uncle Jerry, especially when he was playing All I ask of You, a song from The Phantom of the Opera). It's sooo hard to find such musically inclined people now (I don't consider myself one YET). Anyway, so we started our movie marathon at about 11pm with The Hills have Eyes.

You know, the best way to watch horror movies is in a room made comfortable with soft cushions and blankets (for security reasons), and a partner to huddle with during the scary parts. It was quite lame what Jason said 'Hey, when it's the scary part, we turn to each other and talk about the weather ok?' HAHA.

The Hills have Eyes is creepy. I like gore and violence and all, but not at night! But well, it's about people who are deformed by radioactive chemicals and who have nothing better to do than to kill normal human beings because they are jealous of them. This movie focused on one family's fight to the end. And I hate those kind of endings. It just starts all over again....

Took a toilet break, mixed up Barcardi Lemon Ribena and went back for Round 2.

Ghostship. I don't know why I said I wanted to watch it. SILLY ME! I was so freaked out, I think I watched this movie with the blanket over my eyes half the time.... But the story was quite touching in a way.... I didn't really understand the story, so go find the synopsis yourself.... And the ending, same as The Hills have Eyes; starts all over again.... FREAKY.

Another toilet break. By this time, I was already exhausted because it's waaayyyy past my bed time. Had been sleeping at 1opm lately. Halfway through The Last Samurai, I just fell asleep. Mum called and I realized I'd let my dad know I was going to be out late, but forgot to tell my Mum! Sorry! But I didn't get to go home because I woke up at 5am to find my dear friend sleeping.... Woke him up, chatted for awhile then we went back to sleep. Got him to send me back later in the morning.

Whoa. I had fun. 19th birthday's been just all fun. And I had celebrations for so long, hehe. But now it just feels so normal. But it's nice to tell people that I'm 19.

Oh before I forget:
Hey Cucalamonga, I'm sorry if I'd worried you girls lately. Just that something happened in my life and I just need some adjustments. But I hope you understand that I'm not ready to tell.

New Life
7:18 AM
24 April 2007

5 years ago, you asked,

"If you could, would you turn back time?"

And I said,
"No, no! And never in a million years!"

Today you ask,

"If you could, would you turn back time?"

And I say,

"Yes and yes!
To undo my mistakes; to take back the words I've said;
to say I'm sorry and uncry my tears."

Then you ask,

"Then would you regret? Regret turning back time?"

And I say,
"No, no. And never in a million years."

First Day of School
4:51 AM
16 April 2007 - Back to School

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEAREST BESTIE!
Ronald, here's CHEERS to a new age in life :D Keep smiling!

Anyway, back to school again. Surprises, shock and stress nonetheless. They never fail to do that. Went to help out at the CCA fiesta today and MY GOD. I think all of Singapore's good looking people are stranded on this little Ngee Ann island. And I saw the hottie who had been my eye-candy at Sentosa that time. First year in Ngee Ann! Interesting. I want to be friends with him. Going to scare him with my number.

I think THINKING SHOULD BE MADE A CRIME. It's driving me nuts. Maybe this 'thinking-overload' comes with an impending birthday (getting old....) Another unsuccessful one maybe? Haven't accomplished anything anyway. ARGH. Makes me wonder just what I'm doing with my life; well, except ruining it for myself....

Happy birthday April buddies!

Wine art
11:39 PM
5 April 2007

Got myself a birthday treat today from a new friend, Micheal. After work, I was super exhausted; took a cab home and then dressed up for a really crazy night.

He drove us to Dempsey Road (near the Botanical Gardens) where a couple of good wine bars are lined up. There was a brain rush of memories when the car pulled up at the carpark. That place (when my dad brought us there couple years back) used to be a place selling lovely wooden antique furnitures. But now it's all converted to wine bars and cool chillouts. First up, we went to Wine Networking (I think this is the name....) and I had my first proper wine appreciation class. The first glass (and only wine) that I had was a German white wine. Erm I forgot the name but Hmmm.... It was good! He said that the second glass would always be better because it's chilled and you know what? He was damned right! I felt better after the first glass and by then I was high from all the laughing, the debate about wine prices and munching on cheese and crackers.

After we finished up the bottle, we went over to Hacienda, just across Wine Networking. A pretty place with good music and a cute bartender. Mmm.... Later, I was drowning my stomach with water and a mocktail and we started competing to make cherry knots. Of course I failed while he did a really nice tight cherry knot. Cool!

It was pretty late by the time we left. Contemplating between St James and another place that I really, really wanted to go. Ready for it?

We went to Taboo, a pretty well-known gay club in Neil Road. It was.... quite the experience.... Half of Singapore's men seemed to be there and I must say, they are all good-looking (by this I mean, slim, lean bodies and model looks). It was eye-candy for me to see topless guys dancing and being comfortable with themselves. Honestly, I felt very comfortable dancing there because I know that I will not be a victim of potential one-night-stands or bad pick-up lines; every other guy had the hots for each other. Yeah, so I saw a little smooching and cuddling and gyrating here and there.... I wonder if the waiters there are also gay.... They looked super hot in that red sleeveless t-shirt which says CREW....

We stayed till the club closed, then the last place we visited was The Living Room at the Marriot Hotel. Reminded me of when Jason Ow brought me there.... To use the toilet. The Living Room consisted of a much different crowd; the people there were mostly working adults who just want some party and booze time. Then Micheal told me there were some professional hookers there, but if you ask me, I haven't any idea how to identify them. But anyway, why do I want to? Here I danced till the music changed from sexy latin numbers to R&B and I realized that I was quite tired. Drowned myself with more water and then Micheal sent me home.

Hmmm.... Was quite the experience! A pretty sweet birthday present haha. Thanks Micheal!

Mum's birthday
1:43 AM
31 Mars 2007 - Mum's birthday

Happy **th birthday Mum! Made her this Almond Choco-Fudge for her birthday present, on top of paying for her self-chosen necklace from SK Jewellery. Hope you had a great one!

Wasn't working today and no one's home so I decided to meet Paul for a movie after his attachment. We couldn't decide what movie to watch so we went over to The Cathay first to check out the movies that they were playing and guess what?! Haha! The movie that I wanted to watch so terribly has sneaks today! HAHA!

Meet the Robinsons, I feel, was a wonderful movie. Boo-hoo to the newpapers who gave it a weak review. But then again, I'm biased especially when it comes to 3D animations.

Storyline (got it off the net):

When Lewis meets a mysterious boy from the future named Wilbur Robinson, the two travel forward in time where Lewis discovers the amazing secret of the Robinson family. Lewis is a brilliant twelve-year-old with a surprising number of clever inventions to his credit. His latest and most ambitious project is the Memory Scanner, which he hopes will retrieve early memories of his mother and maybe even reveal why she put him up for adoption. But before he can get his answer, his invention is stolen by the dastardly Bowler Hat Guy and his diabolical hat - and constant companion - Doris. Lewis has all but given up hope in his future when a mysterious boy named Wilbur Robinson whisks our bewildered hero away in a time machine and the two travel forward in time to spend a day with Wilbur's eccentric family. In a world filled with flying cars and floating cities, they hunt down Bowler Hat Guy, save the future and uncover the amazing secret of Lewis' future family.

This movie had a surprising and touching twist towards the end, and I nearly cried. And as with all cartoons, they had their fair share of humour and I was in fits laughing about the dinosaur Tiny. Haha. That was hilarious. Overall, it was a fantastic movie.

Rating: 8/10 bowler hats

I miss you
